Protecting our natural environment

For a healthy and attractive living environment

In the Low Countries, people, animals and plants live according to the rhythm of the seasons. It shapes our customs and traditions, from the Wadden Islands to the Ardennes. But our natural environment is under threat. Increased extreme weather events, rising pollution levels and a decrease in biodiversity are some examples.

Enough! To protect our nature, Circet Benelux is pursuing an environmental policy with a clear vision: we want to do what science deems necessary to stop climate change. It’s the obvious way to go, we believe. In addition to climate, we also focus on the environment, with actions promoting clean air, clean water and clean soil.

1-1

Combating climate change

Greenhouse gas emissions are the leading cause of climate change. If we want to avoid rising sea levels, loss of biodiversity, extreme weather conditions and other negative phenomena, we all need to reduce our emissions.

Circet Benelux is therefore taking appropriate measures. And our use of the term ‘appropriate’ is justified. Our targets to combat climate change have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

3 action points

We link so-called Science Based Targets to our action points, which are objectives that, given the nature and size of our company, are sufficient to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C.

Electric mobility

Our fleet has more than 1,000 vehicles. Initially, we aim to make all passenger cars more sustainable – which account for more than 50% of our fleet. But we are also looking at alternatives for light and even heavier commercial vehicles.

42%

Objective: reduce emissions from our vehicle and machinery fleet by 42% by 2030.

Sustainable procurement

In this respect, the focus is on collaboration with materials suppliers. By joining forces, we want to create more sustainable materials, responsible distribution, less waste and better recycling options. Together, we can do even better.

90%

Objective: Get 90% of our materials suppliers to adhere to the SBTi framework by 2028.

Like-minded subcontractors

Through a variety of initiatives, we support and motivate our subcontractors to reduce their carbon footprint, along with Circet itself. For example, we try to remove financial, informative and practical barriers to help reduce their emissions.

25%

Objective: reduce the vehicle emissions of 90% of our subcontractors by 25% by 2030.

In the spotlight: the Circet Forests

Circet Benelux also contributes to a healthy and attractive living environment in other ways. For example, two Circet Forests are being planted since 2024, one in Eerbeek (Netherlands) and one in Lasne Maransart (Belgium).

Smart handling of waste

Every year, people and companies jointly dump around 2 billion tonnes of waste on our planet. Although this figure has been known for some time, the waste mountain continues to rise at an alarming rate. As a service provider working with different materials, Circet Benelux wants to lead by example. We focus on waste prevention, collection, recycling and processing.

Conveniently, the Benelux is one of the world’s leading regions in the field of sustainable waste management. We want to make optimal use of these capabilities in collaboration with our suppliers and partners.

Priority to green buildings

Circet gebouw

We always try to set up our sites in the most suitable location. And once established, we make every effort to optimise our energy efficiency. The less energy we consume, the better. For the energy we do need, we choose renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, where possible.
